Atomism vs holism. Question 4

Would a coherent logical abstraction, of traditional holism, contain the potential to stand its ground against the mathematics of atomism ?

 I’m presently writing a 3rd book for the Volume 1 of the collection titled “The Transition from Western-Modernity to After-Modernity”. It is a conversation with 4 AI’s about the two approaches of metaphysics that have formed human historical worldviews. Holism is a “local knowledge perspective” gained from a focus on the whole while atomism is a “local knowledge perspective” gained from a focus on the fundamental particles.

The most glaring necessity of our time is unquestionably that the cosmos is indifferent to the stories of Homo-Sapiens and that it will persist with or without us. So if our species wants to survive it will have to realign with the rhythms of the cosmic order, as well as with the physical and biological dimensions of our universe. If we are not able to do this our self-imposed exile, from the web of life, will be made irreversible and our dream of AI will evaporate !

Our best answer to the necessity of our time, would be to integrate Western innovation, with Chinese animist wisdom, in order to heal the damages caused by Western-Modernity's separation from the rhythms of the Cosmic Order and the physical and biological dimensions of our universe.

But this is a lofty target.

The application of this target is indeed mired in the context of the civilizational fragmentation of Homo-Sapiens along the lines of "pragmatism and intuition, in China, to alleviate the suffering of the individuals" versus "technical rationality and empiricism to vanquish nature in the West" as well as among a growing portion of the younger Chinese generations that have converted over the last 3 decades to the dualist materialist technical rationality of Western-modernity.

But "pragmatism and intuition", versus "technical rationality and empiricism", are two otherworldly "systems of societal logic" that separate the thinking, behavior, and actions of Chinese and Westerners. And this separation causes mutual incomprehension which, in times of economic difficulties, easily transforms into open hostility as is occurring presently.

But how did we come to such a state of affairs ?

The "technical rationality and empiricism" of Modernity transformed into science which is financed by the biggest capital holders, or by the technocracy, that is at their service, at the head of private and public institutions. Capital, and its servant technocrats, are financing science, in exchange of technical knowings, to ensure a steady flow of returns on their investments. This is how science came to dominate the formation of knowledge over the last 3 centuries. In this process the traditional animist process of knowledge formation was completely eliminated from Western-Modernity which thus separated from the rhythms of the Cosmic Order and the physical and biological dimensions of our universe with the consequences that we start to observe today.

To get a realist chance to reconcile the traditional system of societal logic of the Chinese, with the technical rationality and empiricism of Western-Modernity, I think that its animist logic has to be translated into the frame of a Modern understanding. 

Mathematics is the logical abstraction epiphany, of atomism, and it is at this title that it serves so well the technical rationality and empiricism of Western-Modernity. Just like traditional animism mathematics rests on its axiomatic foundation. But unlike mathematics traditional animism has not elaborated an all encompassing system of logic from its axioms.

Holism and atomism are the extreme ends of the epistemological spectrum addressing the evolution of the cosmic order. The whole enfolded the direction of the evolution of the cosmic order and holism is its epistemology. In contrast atomism is the epistemology, of the materialization in the present, of this evolution in the condition of the elementary particles. This implies that the present condition of the elementary particles is given by the animation of the cosmic order. In other words the present condition of the elementary particles is a derivative of the whole ! And in light, of this, atomism is a derivative of holism but atomism nevertheless wants us to believe that the elementary particles have agency for operating reality ! But it is these shortcomings that caused the present predicament of life of earth !

In light of this, I'm convinced, that a coherent presentation, of a logical abstraction of traditional holism, has the potential to stand its ground against the mathematics of atomism.
