For years, I’ve painted and written about the deep patterns of history—the long waves of how societies think, believe, and fall apart. A single question kept haunting me: why do all our “solutions” seem to make things worse?

Why does every tech fix create new problems? Why does economic growth destroy the planet it depends on? Why are we richer, more connected, and more miserable than ever?

Today, I’m publishing a book that tries to answer that question. It’s called “The Pathogenic Mind.”

In it, I propose a unsettling idea: the human mind itself has become a pathogen. Not our innate intelligence, but the “operating system” installed on it—a 5,000-year-old logic that sees the world as a machine made of separate parts.

This logic—born from a historical rupture in the Middle East, perfected by the West, and forced on the world—is now driving the six converging crises that define our age: ecological unraveling, social fragmentation, financial vampirism, global disorder, toxic tech, and the rise of AI.

We try to solve these crises with the same logic that caused them. It’s like trying to put out a fire with gasoline.

The book is my attempt to write a “user’s manual” for this disease. It traces where the bug in our thinking came from (starting with the burial of Göbekli Tepe), what a “healthy” mind looks like (found in ancient animist and Chinese holistic traditions), and how we might install a new “antidote” operating system—a rigorous holistic logic that sees connections, not just parts.

This isn’t about going back to the past. It’s about an evolutionary leap to an After-Modernity—a future where our tools serve life, our economies regenerate, and our governance harmonizes rather than dominates.
