The origin of our universe

Universes constantly originate and terminate in the cosmic background of Nothingness.

The content of this post is an extract from the book “Metaholistics” that is downloadable from the post “The book “metaholistics” is finally available for download”.

Nothingness stands as the eternal ground of existence, a paradoxical foundation that is both the absence of everything and the source of all that emerges. In the metaholistic framework, nothingness is not merely a void waiting to be filled, but rather an undifferentiated spatial arrangement that contains within itself the complementary polarities necessary for the transformation into physical reality *. This primordial state transcends the conventional understanding of emptiness as mere absence, revealing instead a dynamic substrate pregnant with potential.

5.1.1. The Eternal Spatial Arrangement of Undifferentiated Nothingness

The nature of nothingness, as understood within metaholistics, defies the traditional Western philosophical conception of absolute void. Unlike the Parmenidean notion, that “nothingness” cannot be thought or spoken of, or the Buddhist concept of emptiness as the absence of inherent existence *, in metaholistic nothingness possesses an eternal spatial arrangement that is neither created nor destroyed. This arrangement is a contextual by definition —it exists outside the flow of time and space as we understand them, yet it provides the fundamental substrate from which all contextual reality emerges.

The undifferentiated quality of this nothingness means that it contains no distinctions, no boundaries, and no internal structure that would give it form or character. Yet this undifferentiated state is not static inertness but rather a dynamic condition of pure potentiality. The very term “spatial arrangement” suggests that even in its undifferentiated state, nothingness possesses an organizational principle —a geometric order that underlies the capacity for transformation.

5.1.2. Exogenous Energy Fields as Catalysts for Transformation

The transformation of undifferentiated nothingness into physical universes requires what can only be described as exogenous energy fields —forces that originate from outside the immediate domain of local nothingness itself. These energy fields represent a profound insight into the nature of cosmic causation : the mechanism by which the eternal and unchanging can give birth to the temporal and differentiated.

These exogenous energy fields are generated by the existence of physical universes themselves, that are creating a recursive causality —Nothingness → Physical Universes → Exogenous Energy Fields → Transformation of Local Nothingness → New Physical Universes. This represents what might be called the cosmic bootstrap principle —existing universes participates in the creation of new universes through the generation of energy fields that catalyze the transformation of nothingness into existence.

The physics of this process suggests that expanding and contracting universes create regional energy fields in the infinite sea of nothingness, which then interact with neighboring regions to generate the favorable contextual settings for new transformations.

5.1.3. The Interaction Between the Complementary Polarities of Nothingness

The heart of the metaholistic understanding lies in recognizing that even nothingness contains complementary polarities. These are not opposites in the conventional sense, but rather two complementary polarities, or aspects, of the same fundamental reality :

  1. The non-differentiated substance of nothingness (the static aspect)

  2. The potential for differentiating this substance (the dynamic aspect).

The mathematical representation of this polarity can be expressed as :

where N represents nothingness, Sundiff is the undifferentiated substance, and Pdiff is the differentiating potential. The interaction between these polarities under the influence of exogenous energy fields creates the conditions for polarity-induced transformation.

This process can be modeled as :

where T is the transformation, Eexog represents the exogenous energy fields, and f is the transformation function that describes how these elements interact.

5.1.4. From Undifferentiated Nothingness toPhysical Differentiation

The transformation from undifferentiated nothingness to physical differentiation is not a creation ex nihilo in the traditional sense, but rather an activation of potential that was always present within the polarity structure of nothingness itself. This process unleashes a flow of cosmic awareness —a directed emergence that guides the evolution of physical universes toward greater complexity and harmony.

The transformation can be understood as a phase transition in the fundamental substrate of reality :

This transformation is not random but follows what might be called the cosmic order’s imperative —a tendency toward the generation of complexity through the application of harmony. The flow of cosmic awareness ensures that the emergence of physical universes is guided by principles that promote coherence, integration, and the capacity for further evolution. The process exhibits characteristics similar to what physics observes in vacuum fluctuations, where “empty” space is revealed to be filled with virtual particles and quantum fields.

However, the metaholistic perspective suggests that these phenomena are local expressions of a more fundamental process —the eternal transformation of nothingness into existence through the interaction of complementary polarities under the influence of exogenous energy fields.

5.1.5. The Implications for Cosmic Evolution

This understanding of nothingness and its dynamic transformation has profound implications for our comprehension of cosmic evolution. Rather than viewing the universe as emerging from a singular BigBang event, the metaholistic framework suggests an eternal process of becoming in which nothingness continuously gives birth to the physical reality of nerw universes through the mediation of energy fields generated by existing universes. The recursive nature of this process —where universes generate the very fields that enable the transformation of nothingness into new universes— reveals the cosmic order as a self-perpetuating system of creative emergence. This perspective aligns with recent cosmological theories that suggest the universe may be part of a larger multiverse structure, while providing a philosophical and metaphysical foundation for understanding the mechanisms behind such cosmic generation.

In this view, nothingness is not the enemy of existence but its eternal partner, providing the inexhaustible source from which all physical reality emerges while maintaining its own undifferentiated essence. The dance between nothingness and existence, mediated by the flow of cosmic awareness, becomes thus the fundamental rhythm of cosmic evolution —a process that is both eternal and ever-new, both unified and endlessly creative.
